Normally sequins on a top make me nervous. More times than not, designers go overboard with sequins, making the outfit look like something only Las Vegas show girls should wear. That being said, occasionally you can find garments where the sequins are used artistically to create an elegant design, like on this Embellished Sheer Tunic.

A sparkling floral design placed on a black background immediately catches the eye. Using a symmetrical design, the sequin embellished front appliqué adds a dash of vivid color. Lime green, sapphire blue and rose pink are set off by gold embroidered outlines. Other than the appliqué front placket, black sequins have been strategically placed on the rest of the tunic, adding shimmer without taking away from the appliqué focal point.

The rest of the tunic’s design is fairly basic. A generous length of 28” minimizes the hips and waist. Three quarters length sleeves are normally casual, but these have been dressed up with button closure cuffs. A tie notch neckline provides a flirty collar and keeps the eye focused on the sequin appliqué and embroidery. This tunic is an excellent choice for women who are trying to draw attention away from their hips and stomach areas. Large busted women, on the other hand, may want to avoid this tunic since it will overemphasize your upper half. Also, the designer’s website doesn’t list whether this sheer top is lined, which means that buyers might have to wear a sleeveless top underneath.
