Such a picture caused a huge public response. Magazine editors may have been worried about offending people, but to their surprise almost all the responses were positive. Women were amazed to finally see someone in a magazine that actually looked like they did. Not some stick thin waif of a woman, but a real woman with real jiggly body parts.Lizzie has made several comments that she is proud of her body, even if she isn’t a size zero. While she certainly does not support unhealthy living or obesity, Lizzie does seem to support women developing a positive body image that includes having curves and a bit of a tummy.
After all the commotion over Lizzie’s picture, her story was featured on the Today show, noted as the most watched show in America. Also as a follow-up to Lizzie’s picture, Glamour did a feature article about her, showcasing more pictures of Lizzie’s gorgeous body including her now famous tummy.
Now known as the symbol for the “anti-airbrushed model,” Lizzie is making her way as a strong advocate against stick thin models. In February of this year, Vogue Curvy did a feature interview with Lizzie, including personal factoids and her opinions on the fashion industry. There’s even a video link on the site with Lizzie trying on various outfits.
