When I’m looking at skirts I find myself in a dilemma. Part of me wants something dressy and elegant, but I also want something casual and trendy. This Tiered Skirt falls within that middle ground of formal yet fun.

Tiered skirts are about texture and flow. This skirt mixes three distinct textures that add drama to the garment. The plain indigo tiers anchor the skirt and set off the other layers. A floral embroidered tier at about mid length brings the eye downward. The mesh translucent bottom tier gives the skirt a whimsical touch. As each connecting hemline is gathered, the material drapes well to produce a pleasant and flattering flow.

While the style and texture of this skirt has been given much attention, color choices are limited. The skirt only comes in indigo blue. Similar to the color of denim, buyers could easily match this garment with several complementary colors and prints. Dressing the skirt up can be accomplished with a decadent blouse in a coordinating color, along with a scarf and some tasteful jewelry. Dressing the skirt down is as easy as putting on a comfortable top. With an elastic waistband, a belt isn’t necessary for achieving a better fit, but a belt could make an excellent accessory for either dressing up or down.

The skirt is made of rayon so it is washable. With so many different layers and textures of fabric, however, I’d recommend using the gentle cycle for washing and drying.
