Back when you were younger, I’m sure you thought that by the time we reached year 2000, everyone would be living like the Jetsons. Well, here we are in 2009 and we’re still waiting. While I don’t believe every house will have toothbrushes and showers built in the walls that do the brushing and washing for us, one thing I know for sure is that futuristic fashion is here and it’s showing up in plus sizes.

This belted wrap blouse is only one example. While I’m used to seeing portrait collars on evening gowns, the one featured on this black taffeta top is reminiscent of a Mrs. Judy Jetson. The sleeveless nature of the blouse flatters women looking to cover their shoulders and the jewel buckle on the pleated cummerbund cinches the waist for a flattering silhouette.

Available in sizes 16W to 24W, the only thing I don’t like about this piece is that it’s taffeta. This makes for a rigid looking design that, when coupled with the “touch of stretch” that has been added to the blouse, gives it an almost uncomfortable look.
