Just having moved to the Windy City, my wardrobe still lacks in the appropriate pieces for cold, wet, and snowy weather. As I get more comfortable in my surroundings, that changes everyday. I’m still on the lookout for cool and comfortable pairs of boots, but as it gets colder and the weather fluctuates, I’m more aware of an intense need for a pair that will provide excellent friction to prevent slippage. That said, I don’t have the money to buy a pair for looks along with a pair for their practicality. So when I set eyes on the beautifully designed wide calf Anna boots from Woman Within’s Comfortview line, my only real question was if they would hold up in winter weather? Thank goodness the answer leans towards yes. The man-made suede looks comfortable and cozy on these inside zip, no slip rubber soled shoes. With medium and wide selections from sizes 7 to 12 and a wide width calf, there is not much that’s negative to say about the white rimmed and side tied boots. Of course, if the weather gets to bad I may have to splurged on another pair of boots, as I doubt these are waterproof.
Listening to the rain come through an open window in the house can be a very relaxing experience. It’s the perfect time to cozy up to a good book and a warm cup of tea. But walking in that same rain is a very different experience. Heaven forbid I leave the house on a rainy day in flip-flops. I’m so used to slipping and sliding in even my nicest pair of flip-flops when it rains that I don’t even bother trying to keep them on my feet. I just take them off and look like an idiot walking barefoot in the middle of the city.
I live in Chicago and this year in the Windy City it’s starting to get very cold, very early. It’s not even September and I’ve already pulled out some of my light sweaters and traded my beloved flip-flops for the warm retreat of closed toed ballet flats. But the one piece of clothing missing from my cold weather armor is a great pair of boots. Whether flat or heeled, I love what boots can do to change-up the monotony of any outfit. But despite my affinity for all things boot-y, It’s rare that I find a well made and comfortable pair in my size (12W) and with extra room for my large calves.
