One of the major fashion trends that has been on the horizon for a little while now is the loose and flowing tent dress. Blame it on the need to hide belly bumps in Hollywood or the boho-chic craze that just seems like it won’t go away, but this fashion forward and thought provoking dress is here to stay. I’m typically not a fan, but that fact has more to do with retailer execution and little to do with the actual concept.A store that seems to have gotten it right this season is Catherine’s. They are currently offering a tented little black dress that will convert you to a believer almost instantaneously. I think the thing that makes this design more appealing than others of the same nature is the length. There are a plethora of tent dresses on the market that are just way too short and way too revealing to ever warrant any type of modesty. With the placement print dress from Catherine’s, this is avoided due to a well placed and wide banded banteau neckline and a knee length hem.
When was the last time you frolicked? I mean actively tried have an evening filled with merrymaking and gaiety. When most of us plan to attend an event worthy of a cocktail dress, we can often take things so seriously making sure that everything from our hair to our shoes is polished and put together. As women trying to exude confidence and show that we have everything together, we can get lost in the details and forget to have fun.
