While I’ve always liked the idea of fashion vests, I’ve never really been a fan of the vests made for women in the plus size market. I’ve tried on a couple myself and always came away from the experience thinking vests are an item that just don’t always translate well in plus sizes (or maybe just my size). Sometimes they’re too short and often the waist cinching details can make the vest appear as if it’s too tight.

What I like about this vest from Fashion Bug is that it has all the elements that make a vest great without making you look as though you’re being squeezed to death, as is often true with corset versions of the piece. Along with a generally roomy fit, the detailed striping on this machine washable, denim vest and seaming at the bust and the waistline come together to create a flattering and feminine piece that feels as comfortable as it looks. Thick straps and a low cut also enhance the wearability of the vest by making the plus-size proportions suitable. In other vests, sometimes the neckline is so high and the straps so small that it just doesn’t look right on a fuller figure.”

It comes in sizes 16W to 30 W and at 24″ long, it’s two inches longer than the industry standard. Despite the added length, women with very long torsos should invest in a long button down to go underneath the piece so it doesn’t appear too short.
