Lately I’ve noticed a lot of designers using metal accents. Most of them are using colored chains attached to the fabric, but some more innovative individuals are finding other ways to incorporate the industrial sheen of metal with soft textiles. This Fresh Take Tunic has an interesting balance of these two extremes.

Metal rings act like trim that creates a punky yet feminine design. Since the metal rings line the V-neckline, they’re almost like a piece of jewelry. That being said, the thickness of the rings adds a modern edge that won’t go unnoticed. Drawing immediate attention, the shimmering rings direct the eye first toward the bust line and then straight downward for a fairly vertical and more slimming appearance. Wearing bracelets and rings could coordinate well with this top, but I would advise against wearing necklaces because it might look too busy.

If metal is the punk side of the outfit, then the design of the tunic is definitely the feminine side. An inverted empire waistline helps shape the breast. Gentle gathers from the waistline allow the fabric to drape loosely over the midsection, producing an elegant flow. Short sleeves soften the lines and add a sense of casualness to the outfit. This link will only show the top in a regal shade of Purple, but the same top is available in black. As much as I enjoy Alight’s selection, I wish they would organize their site better so that buyers won’t miss out on various options.
