Whitney’s experiences on the show weren’t always fun and games. Many of the other models mocked her for being fat and continuously taunted her with juvenile comments. Whitney’s strength of character kept her strong regardless of the torment. She knew how sexy she was, and it showed true in every picture. In fact on several occasions she would place her pictures next to those of her tormentors and point out how fantastic she looked compared to them.
Even before it was announced that Whitney had won, several fans, both male and female, were sending her letters about how her influence has helped them realize they had eating disorders and that they should seek professional help. Likewise, several individuals wrote to her about feeling more confident as a plus size person after seeing Whitney strut her stuff on the catwalk.
Winning ANTM’s top prize, including major contracts with Cover Girl Cosmetics and Elite Model Management, has immensely excelled Whitney’s career and fame. In 2008 Lifestyle MSN noted Whitney as the most influential woman of the year. Branching beyond just modeling, Whitney has started a line of products called Supermodel. Whitney’s line focuses on designer jewelry and candles.
In recent news, Whitney has gone back to being a brunette, her natural hair color, and is the main model for Torrid’s 2010 line.
